Lions Report (Special Pregame Edition): Big game against the Eagles tonight. Big game. It’s been an up and down season for both teams so far, and the NFC still appears to be wide open. (The winner of the Seahawks/Rams game this afternoon might argue that point). We’re going to know a lot more at the end of tonight. I’ve got questions:

Will Dan Campbell continue to be the spark they need at calling plays? - Or did he just beat up a sub-par Washington Commanders team? I do think they had more rhythm to their play calling last week, and I did like Campbell utilized a lot more presnap motion. That helps Goff try to identify the coverage. However, the Commanders aren’t very good. I’m curious to see how we look against a stacked Eagles defense.

How will the Lions passing offense look with Sam LaPorta missing for the next four weeks? - That was a bad piece of news earlier this week. Amon-Ra is clearly the number one receiving threat on the team, but LaPorta is Jared Goff’s security blanket. Who’s going to step up? I’d like to see Jameson Williams get a lot more attempts, and it’s time we see Isaac TeSlaa used as more than a one-trick leaping pony.

How’s the Lions banged up secondary (No Arnold, Reed, or Joseph and Amik Robertson is questionable) going to hold up against a pissed off AJ Brown? - Brown is one of the biggest and most physical receivers in the NFL. And he’s been complaining about his lack of receiving attempts the last, oh I don’t know, entire season. This one makes me the most nervous. I don’t want to see an AJ Brown coming out party tonight. Which leads me to….

Will the Lions be able to at least partially contain Saquon Barkley? - I hope so. If starts gashing us early in the game, we will need to bring a safety up and then (See AJ Brown, above)...

Is anyone coaching the Lions special teams? - Sure doesn’t look like it.

Will Campbell be utilizing David Montgomery more this game? - Jahmyr Gibbs has been the primary focus in the Lions run game so far this season, and I understand why. He’s a bigger home run threat, and he’s dangerous catching the ball out of the backfield. However, this feels like a game where Montgomery will be needed more. Grinding out tough yards, pass protecting Goff if the Eagles bring the heat, etc.

Will the Eagles continue to not close out games in a decisive manner? - They let teams hang around.

Which coach, if any, will make a decision that costs his team the game? Nick Sirianni is a hothead and made a decision last week that should have cost the Eagles the game. I hope that guy shows up tonight, and I don’t want to see Riverboat Dan Campbell. He’s been kept in his bottle all season.

Will I go to bed pissed off? I hope not.

Go Lions.
