Lions Report: As a Lions fan, how many times have we said, “I’ve never seen them lose that way before.”? Well, dust that one off because I’ve never seen the Lions lose that way before. What a frustrating, exhilarating and ultimately painful game. In the end, we lost at home. To the Steelers. In a game we almost had to win. What went wrong?

Riverboat Dan Campbell - I’m tired of writing about this but it’s always there. Campbell went for it on 4th down from the 3-yard line in the first quarter. Kick the effing field goal, you idiot. Take the points when they are there. I can understand it when you had a dominant offensive line two years ago. You don’t anymore. If we had those three points, that last drive would have been for a field goal to win the game. Campbell is like a newby poker player, he’s always shoving all in. It’s not cute or non-conventional anymore. It’s just plain stupid.

Injuries - Everyone has in the NFL this time of year. To be fair, the Lions have been crushed by injuries the last two seasons. Kerby Joseph, Brian Branch, Terrion Arnold, Sam LaPorta, etc. At some point, it gives out. News flash. It’s giving out.

The Lions rushing attack - It’s obvious the injuries to the offensive line are having an impact as well. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery had a total of 16 yards rushing against a Pittsburgh Steelers run defense that got gouged two out of the last three games. You aren’t winning many NFL games with that result.

As for the game, the first three quarters were nearly unwatchable. That was some terrible football. Then, in the fourth quarter, the Pittsburgh Steelers threw a switch and started scoring. I’ll be honest. I thought the Lions were toast two times in that quarter after giving up long touchdown runs. However, the Lions also seemed to wake up and countered each time. Both teams scored a total of 22 points through 3 quarters. In the 4th quarter, they scored 31 points. The fact that we had a chance to win that game in the end was a bit unbelievable.

As to the last play, do I think the referees got it right? I do. Amon-Ra clearly extended his arms and pushed off on his reception. If someone had done that to a Lions defender to score and win the game, I would have been livid.

In the end, it really doesn’t matter much. The Lions struggled and lost at home to the Steelers. They aren’t a very good football team. Even if we made it to the playoffs, we wouldn’t go very far, especially with all the injuries. I know we’re not out of it yet, but the odds are long.

Meow….
